Themes and Templates

Drupal uses a Theme to implement the SF State Template.

Public Pages

All public facing pages (pages that anyone can see without logging in) must use the SF State template. There are some customizations allowed to the template.

We would recommend that you change the image bar. Here are allowed customizations:

  • May be any height
  • Height may vary from home page to sub pages
  • May use any color scheme
  • May use photographic imagery, illustration, collage, or just color

To add your own image to the bar:

Upload the image to the Drupal server.

  1. The easiest way to do this it to create a web page and click on the image icon.
  2. Click the Browse Server button.
  3. Click the Upload button.
  4. Click the Choose file button.
  5. Select the image from your file system.
  6. Click the Upload button.
  7. Double click on the newly added image.
  8. Copy the URL from the URL field.
  9. Click the Cancel button and don't save the web page.

Now set the theme to use the new image.

  1. Go to Site building -> Themes -> Configure -> sfsu.
  2. Paste the URL you copied in the previous step into the The URL to your custom imagebar field.
  3. Click the Save configuration button.

Secured pages

All secured or internal pages (pages that require authentication to view) must not use the SF State Template. We are working on a Drupal Theme for SF State Internal but it is not ready yet. You may use your own template as long as you have approval from University Communications.
